Plans in for 133 apartments at Salford Quays

PLANS for a 133-apartment development at Trafford Road on Salford Quays have been submitted.
Coda Studios have submitted the application for full planning consent on behalf of KK1 Land Ltd for the stepped development from eight to 14 storeys on 0.4 acre site which is currently vacant.
Submission documents say it is intended to become a gateway building leading into Salford Quays from the North.
“The building has been keenly considered so that it will relate not only to the scale and massing of the existing surroundings, but that of new developments which are coming forward in the immediate area,” it says.
“The building will be a significant intervention along Trafford Road and will positively contribute to the emerging character and ambitions of this key location in Salford Quays.”
The design and access statement submitted to Salford City Council also says: “The location is central and close to the amenities and employment zones in the immediate area with excellent transport links within Greater Manchester and beyond.
“Many local facilities and amenities are within walking distance and Manchester city centre is approximately 20 minutes walk away.”
It points out that the attractive quayside setting is prominent, but the area is blighted by numerous vacant derelict sites.
“Given the prominent location of the site, there is a clear opportunity to redevelop the site that is more appropriate to this central location,” it adds.
