Multi-million pound 18-storey mixed scheme

A MULTI-million pound scheme to build four 18-storey blocks with 426 residential units combined with office space, a restaurant and gym on the site of a former bus and coach station on the edge of Liverpool city centre has been submitted to planners.

The plans include 45 live/work units, 174 studios and one-bedroom apartments, 207 two bedroom homes and duplexes, and a 516-space multi-storey car park at the site at 70 Pall Mall.

Also included is up to 15,000 sq ft of office space on the first and second floors and 5,00 sq ft of retail units.

There will also be a ground floor café bar and a restaurant in a total of 8,000 sq ft of space on the fifth and sixth floor. The gym will be housed on the third floor.

The residential amenity will include roof gardens and terracing. A concierge service and support services will be accessed via Pall Mall.

Currently the coach and bus station is mainly steel framed in construction and will be demolished before development can begin. One section of the building contains asbestos.

Warrington-based PHD1 Construction has lodged the application with the city council and is represented by Richard Gee of Roman Summer Associates, of Rawtenstall in Lancashire.

Representatives of PHD1 and Roman Summer were unavailable for comment today.

The application follows approval of 264 apartments in central Liverpool , for which Roman Summer is also the agent.

The full planning application is for two buildings 10 and 16 storeys high including 25 three bedroom homes, 127 two bed and 52 single bedroom.

Nine of the apartments on land flanked by Park Lane, Pownall Street, Liver Street and Beckwith Street, are designed as accessible for disabled people.

A landscaped public courtyard between the buildings will be accessible via Park Lane and Pownell Street.

Four mixed commercial units up to 10,00-sq ft in total are also part of the plan.

There will also be a gym, pavement cafes, 47 basement parking spaces and 166 cycle spaces.

The application was submitted by Richard Gee of Roman Summer on behalf of applicant One Park Lane Ltd, which is registed in the the Sychelles.
