Surveying firm set for £1.5m revenue

SURVEYING sector research and development specialist DC Voltage Gradient Technology & Supply is on course for turnover of £1.5m thanks to support from Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub.

The Wigan-based company directed by Dr Sarah Leeds has become a major supplier of above-ground pipeline surveying equipment, a significant achievement in the traditionally male-dominated industry.

DC Voltage Gradient initially approached the Hub for help to develop a new business strategy including an organisational restructure.

This has led to the company recruiting three new employees, as well as significantly increasing productivity and sales both in the UK and internationally, resulting in the best performance the business has seen in 20 years.

The business has also recently entered a partnership with an agency in America allowing the firm to export its good overseas.

This collaboration has enabled DC Voltage to increase turnover by almost 40% from March 2014 to 2015 with projected turnover of £1.5m by 2016.

Leeds said: “It has been fantastic to work with Business Growth Hub. The team’s guidance has been invaluable in helping us develop a long-term growth plan, as we look to break into further international markets.

“I am very excited for the future as we capitalise on the opportunities afforded to us by our new agency in America, and as we continue to develop our team and grow as a business.”

Bob Dackiw, growth manager at Business Growth Hub, added: “The achievement of DC Voltage demonstrates the strength of British manufacturing, particularly in the North West. However, to unlock the full potential of these businesses, a clear future strategy is required.

“Dr Leeds is an inspirational figure in the industry, and with her ambition we are confident that our on-going partnership with DC Voltage can help the business as it looks to break into new markets.”
