THE residential property team at Napthens solicitors has expanded with the appointment of solicitor Zelda Gornall.

Gornall joins the Preston-based company following 15 years with regional law firm Birchall Blackburn, including most recently several years in the residential property team.

In her role she will act on behalf of clients purchasing and selling properties, advising on all aspects of the conveyancing process including freehold and leasehold matters, shared ownership and new build properties.

Gornall arrives during a period of growth for the residential property team, with several new staff members joining the department in the last 12 months, and the number of instructions at a record level.

She said: “The department at Napthens has a fantastic reputation in the sector and with a healthy residential property marketplace I felt this was a great opportunity to join an ambitious and expanding team.”

RAMI Boghdadly has joined  Bolton law firm Asons Solicitors its new head of marketing after the departure of John King.

Boghdadly comes to the firm to lead a team of digital marketing specialists including a web developer, graphic designer, public relations officer and a marketing executive.

He was previously the senior marketing manager at Carter Law Solicitors in Manchester where he was responsible for creating a new marketing department, as well as devising their marketing strategies and developing a new and refreshing corporate identity.

Boghdadly has 11 years experience in the field of marketing and has also held marketing management positions with the British Council and Al Rahji Bank.
He said: “I think Steve Jobs said it best when he said innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. Asons have an innovative management team and I am proud to be a part of it and bring that same ethos to the marketing team.”

THE NHS Trust Development Authority has confirmed the appointment of Richard Groome as non-executive director of North West Ambulance Service.

Groome is a chartered engineer and member of the Royal Society of Public Health and has has been heavily involved with major public infrastructure projects like Alder Hey and North Staffs Hospitals, Manchester Waste, GMPA, Oldham Housing and Manchester street lighting.

Previously a non-executive director with the Shropshire Heath Authority, he has also worked with West Midlands Ambulance Services (WMAS). 

Chairman for North West Ambulance Service, Wyn Dignan saids: “We’re delighted to welcome Richard Groome to the Service and are confident that he will be a positive addition to the Trust Board.

 “Richard has a wealth of experience within the healthcare and public sectors, and this will be invaluable to the Trust, particularly his previous work with our ambulance colleagues in West Midlands.”

FORENSIC accounting expert Andrew Brown is to lead Grant Thornton’s forensic and investigations services team across Leeds and Manchester.

Brown joined Grant Thornton in January 2015 with 25 years’ experience in forensic investigation, working for leading firms, and will head up the 17-strong team across the north, assisting clients with complex investigations and legal disputes.

“This is a very specialist field, but one which is growing extremely quickly given the huge rise in fraud, together with the increasing sophistication of its perpetrators,” he said. “We are seeing the size and complexity of financial disputes and investigations continuing to increase with a corresponding rise in demand for our services, particularly for cases involving computer forensics.

“As well as having access to more than 100 Grant Thornton forensic services experts across the UK, we will also be continuing to expand the team based here in the north.”

MANCHESTER-based HOW Planning has appointed Jon Power as a senior planner.

With more than eight years of practical planning experience Power joins HOW following three years in Melbourne, Australia where he worked on a range of specialisms, prior to which he was based in Manchester and worked in the North West property market on high profile planning and  regeneration projects.

He will be working as part of HOW’s growing planning team on large scale residential and mixed use developments.

HOW also welcomes Hilary Brett, who joins as principal environmental consultant, boosting the environmental team and bringing the total number of people employed by the company to 27.

HOW Partner Jon Suckley said: “The past year has been a busy time for HOW as the market continues to improve. We are planning for our future and both Jon and Hilary will play key roles in the continued growth of the company as we look to expand in both the planning and environmental sectors.”

SIGNATURE Living has installed Alan Hartley as chief operations officer at its newly-opened Shankley Hotel in Liverpool.

He joins the Signature Living as the company as the company embarks upon a major expansion programme, which will see it developing new hotels and accommodation in cities throughout the UK.

Having held leadership procurement roles at AstraZeneca and Unilever, Hartley joins Signature Living from URENCO Ltd, a uranium enrichment company, where he was group head of procurement managing a global team of 60 people and overseeing an annual spend of €800m.
