Housing round-up: Laurus out to transform abandoned site

MANCHESTER-based developer Laurus Homes has submitted plans to redevelop an abandoned industrial complex in Altrincham.
Its is aiming to build 33 family homes and 29 apartments at the former Bayer complex off Manchester Road in West Timperley.
The 3.4 acres plot, which is adjacent to the A56 and is close to Trafford College, has lain derelict for many years and has been subject to numerous acts of vandalism and arson attacks.
Should the planning application be successful, the West Timperley scheme will be Trafford-headquartered Laurus Homes’ latest major project.
It will set out to transform and regenerate what sees as a strategic gateway site.
Last week the developer, which is owned by Trafford Housing Trust, revealed details of plans for the regeneration of a similar derelict site on Cross Street in Sale, on the site of the old Waggon & Horses pub, which include a mix of retail units, family homes and apartments.
The West Timperley application will be considered by Trafford Council’s Planning and Development Committee before the end of the year.
