Homes plans set to get thumbs down

COUNCILLORS look set to turn down two planning applications for housing in Cheshire East.

Cheshire East’s southern planning committee is due to meet next Wednesday  (September 2), where Macbryde Homes’ proposal for 52 houses on land west of Bunbury Lane, Bunbury omces under consideration.

Refusal is recommended with side lying entirely within open countryside determined by the Crewe and Nantwich Local Plan.

A report to the committee says: “The proposal remains contrary to open countryside policy regardless of the Council’s five-year housing land supply position.”

For the same reason, a plan for 21 homes by CB Homes in Hill Close, Bunbury is also recommended for refusal.

However, planning offices have recommended approval of a plan to demolish a property in West Street, Congleton and replace it with a two-storey building containing 10 one-bedroom apartments.

Another submission by R G Harris Ltd is for nine houses and five apartments at Heathfield Avenue in Hightown, Crewe which is also recommended for the green light.

Councillors also look likely to give the thumbs up to the building of 10 houses at land at Mossley House, Biddulph Road, Congleton following an application by Elan Homes Ltd. The application includes associated garages, car parking and landscaping.
