Manchester firms forge £500,000 cloud deal

TIME capture specialist Rekoop has announced a major investment in its IT infrastructure, partnering with  cloud provider and fellow Manchester company UKFast.

Following 18 months of unprecedented growth and its recent emergence as the global market favourite, the application provider has signed a £500,000 contract with the hosting specialist.

Rekoop, providers of a time capture platform for the professional services industry, has joined forces with UKFast’s specialist team, which has created a private eCloud solution – which it believes is a highly resilient, scalable and secure platform – to deliver its applications.

As well as strengthening its data centre, a move to a fully managed private cloud was seen as providing the optimum mix of control, capacity and cost-efficiency.

Rekoop chief executive Phil Wedgwood said: “With more users coming on-stream every month, it’s essential that we maintain service standards and the integrity of our application delivery.

“UKFast offers a privately owned, ISO 27001-accredited data centre, a top notch support operation and a robust approach to security and availability.”

UKFast has seen similar success to its new partner, having recorded 24% growth in turnover in 2014, something which chief executive Lawrence Jones feels is one of many similarities between the two firms.

Jones said: “Our focus here at UKFast has always been on speeding up the internet and freeing up as much time as possible for our clients. Time is precious and you should spend it wisely. It makes absolute sense, therefore, for us to partner with time capture specialist Rekoop.

“It is an astonishing piece of technology that enables professionals to actively capture and track how their time is spent. It’s a concept that could massively improve efficiency in the professional services industry and I look forward to working together for a long time to come.”

The hosting firm has also seen strong growth over the past few years, posting revenue growth in 2014 to £28.9m and adding storage solution eCloud Vault to the highly successful eCloud hosting range.

The two companies are also set to launch a new professional services event at UKFast Campus, Manchester, in October which aims to bolster efficiency in the industry through cutting-edge technology.
