Appointments: Bilfinger GVA; Robson and Liddle; Cast UK & more

STEPHEN Cowperthwaite has been promoted to regional senior director of the Bilfinger GVA Liverpool office.
He has taken on the role to allow his predecessor Patrick Whitby to lead on the expanding Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) estate services contract.
It is a substantial commission for Bilfinger GVA and its Energy and Natural Resources Business Unit. With 17 sites spread throughout the UK, the change in emphasis will provide a high level of client and business focus for company.
Cowperthwaite has more than 25 years’ experience in the property market. His promotion will see him lead and strengthen the Liverpool team’s Northern offer which has seen significant growth.
Bilfinger GVA managing director Malcolm Whetstone said: “These changes will strengthen our business both with the NDA, a key national client, and also within the Merseyside region with Stephen taking on the role of office head. He is well-known locally and his proven leadership skills will enable further development and growth of the office.”

ROBSON and Liddle chartered surveyors in Cumbria has taken on its second apprentice in as many months.
The Penrith practice has taken on Tomos Davies, 21, as a student surveyor. He will work with farmers and landowners across Cumbria, the North East and Scottish Borders.
Robson and Liddle Chartered Surveyors, based at Edenhall, has recruited Tomos Davies as a student surveyor.

SPECIALIST recruitment company Cast UK, based in Manchester, has announced two promotions to strengthen its senior team.
Gary Robinson has been promoted to sales director and Dan Rowe becomes account manager for the logistics team in the South.
Cast UK, which this year celebrates a decade in operation sourcing talent in procurement, buying, supply chain and logistics, is bolstering its top tier as it continues on a solid growth curve.
Robinson, who joined the team in 2008 from DHL Exel, has headed up Cast UK’s logistics division since 2010 and will draw on his experience to manage and develop client relationships across the organisation’s specialist sector key accounts in his new director role.
Rowe will assume the role of overseeing the company’s logistic team’s expanding portfolio in the South, which includes Brakes, Debenhams, Arcadia, Kuehne + Nagel, DHL and Wincanton.

MANCHESTER planning consultancy Turley has appointed Stephen Gleave as a director with particular responsibility for the development of its ‘place-making’ agenda.
Gleave was formerly managing director of Taylor Young architects and planners and latterly, IBI Group.
He has a strong track record in design and masterplanning, advising on major hospitals and public sector site disposals, and leading architecture teams on new housing and regeneration initiatives.
