Crawford Healthcare up to number five in the UK

CHESHIRE-based Crawford Healthcare is claiming to be the UK’s fifth largest and fastest growing wound care company.

Based on its latest market sales data provided by IMS Health, the Knutsford firm announced it has overtaken a number of large multi-national businesses in an industry worth more than $9bn.

The data shows Crawford enjoying 30% annual growth over the last three years, fuelling a rise of seven places since 2012.

Crawford chief executive Richard Anderson said:“This is a very proud moment for is.

“Achieving the status of being one of the industry’s top five performing businesses, alongside much larger companies, is testament to the growth strategy we have put in place.”

In a market dominated by large multi-billion pound groups, such as Smith & Nephew, Convatec, and Molnlycke, Crawford Healthcare, which recently announced turnover of £18.3m, continues to outperform market growth and disrupt industry hierarchy by developing revolutionary new technologies and products.

“When George Osborne opened our new offices in 2012 we talked about the importance and strength of the North’s contribution to the healthcare market,” Anderson said.

“We are extremely proud to be a part of the Chancellor’s Northern Powerhouse vision and a leading example of the way businesses in the region can boost the UK economy through innovation.”

Anderson said that Crawford’s international operation is continuing to grow and become established in the US and Europe, where a joint venture agreement is making good early progress.
