£1.5m homes scheme complete

Contractors have handed over the first of 18 new properties at a £1.5m scheme of affordable homes in Warrington.

The Edenhall Grove development at Orford comprises 14 two-bedroom and four three-bedroom homes in clusters of three mews style properties.

Manchester-based Harbur Construction has built the scheme on behalf of Torus Group company, Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT).

Harbur Construction managing director Richard Hutchinson said: “The scheme has been designed sensitively using similar brickwork and materials used to build homes bordering the site, so it fits in with the traditional feel of existing housing in the area.

“The development provides high quality family homes for local people while making use of wasted space, as it is based at a site which had stood derelict for years. It has really helped to regenerate a key part of the community.”

GGHT chair Roy Smit, added: “I would like to wish a very warm welcome to the new residents of Edenhall Grove. The completion of this development marks a new era for Golden Gates Housing Trust in being able to offer more affordable homes in Warrington.

“It’s great to see these houses now turning into homes.”

The scheme, which was funded by Golden Gates Housing Trust, also received support from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
