Contractors appointed for office revamp

ACCOUNTING and business advisory firm Hurst has appointed contractors for a six-figure refurbishment of its main Stockport office.

The upgrade will begin next month and is expected to take 12 weeks.

It will involve an overhaul of the 10,000 sq ft, four-storey building on Lancashire Gate, Tiviot Dale in the town centre, as well as external works.

Hurst has appointed Morecambe firm Contact One as the main contractor following a competitive three-way pitch. The quantity surveyor is Baker Roberts, of Colwyn Bay, and Manchester-based Sheila Bird Group is the interior designer.

The project will create a new ground-floor reception and flexible working area, an extension to the seminar suite taking capacity from 40 to 60, and the conversion of loft space into informal breakout and working areas.

The Stockport office is Hurst’s main hub with more than 70 staff based there. It is at capacity and the refurbishment will enable the firm to accommodate 120 staff.

Chief executive Tim Potter said: “Our Stockport office has served us well but we need to create space for more staff as we grow, with nine people joining Hurst before Christmas this year and substantial further recruitment in the pipeline.”
