People: Penrillian; Forward Role; Equilibrium & more

CUMBRIAN mobile technology pioneer Penrillian is announcing the appointment of its new chief executive Joanne Thompson as it looks to accelerate its growth strategy in the transport and technology industries.

Thompson joins the Penrith-based software development company following a career leading significant growth and change of technology companies including roles as managing director of Serco’s Transport Technology division, senior vice president of BT in Europe, and European director of professional services at Equant.

Penrillian is one of the world’s longest established developers in mobile technology.

Millions of people use its software daily; from contactless payment solutions and wireless dongles to ticket and mobile money apps developed for major clients including Vodafone, EE, 02, TUI and PrePay Solutions.

Thompason who achieved her MBA in business at Cranfield Business School and studied Politics and International Relations at Lancaster University, will lead the implementation of Penrillian’s three year strategic plan to accelerate the pace of growth, through the development of new products and services.

She said: “Penrillian has a strong track record in delivering real innovation in the mobile tech field. The transport industry, in common with a number of other technology enabled industries, is undergoing a digital revolution and we are pursuing some extremely exciting opportunities for our customers in this market.”

MANCHESTER-based marketing and digital recruitment specialist Forward Role has appointed Ian Lenehen to lead its new Agency division.

He joins from Blue Skies were he performed a similar function.

Becky Smith and Helen Coley have also been installed from Blue Skies to support the region’s digital and PR events, respectively.

Forward Role’s clients include AO.com, Missguided.com and N Brown Group.

Lenehan said: “Forward Role’s strong brand and reputation for providing a quality, service-led approach to recruitment, means our new offering will lend itself well to the agency space in the North West.”

EQUILIBRIUM Asset Management has added four new graduate recruits to its training programme.

The Wilmslow, Cheshire-based wealth management company has given them the opportunity to learn from a fast growing team of finance experts.

The four new trainee client managers will spend 18 months learning from Equilibrium’s highly qualified and adept staff.

They are: Mickey Armstrong, Ryan Branney, Tim Latham and Jack Geary.

Colin Lawson, managing partner of Equilibrium, said of the new additions: “We are excited to welcome four fresh new faces and give them the skills and experience they will need to succeed in the industry.

“I am sure they will find the programme extremely useful and will get a lot out of learning from our highly skilled and experienced staff.”

DRUG discovery and development specialist Redx has made two senior appointments.

The AIM-listed company with sites in Liverpool and Alderley Park, has appointed Nicholas Adams as chief buisness officer and Dr Matilda Bingham has been promoted to executive director of Redx Oncology, the Group’s Oncology subsidiary.

Adams’ role is a newly developed position with his appointment starting on November 19, while Bingham’s promotion takes immediate effect.

Redx chief executive Neil Murray said: “These appointments are part of Redx’s growth strategy and will help to accelerate the Group’s next phase of development as a commercially driven drug discovery and development company.”
