Turnover and profits up for James Cropper

JAMES  Cropper, the Cumbrian  paper and technical fibre manufacturer has enjoyed an increase in its half-year revenue by 4.7% to £42.1m.

Profit before tax has also risen to £1.7m in the six-month period to September  26, compared with last year (HY 2014: £1.2m).

The Kendal-based company’s performance has been boosted by a 25% increase in sales of technical fibre products (TFP) as earnings per share rose 24% to 8.3p from 6.7p on prior period comparative.

Chairman Mark Cropper said: “In the remainder of this year, James Cropper Paper is on track to deliver modest growth in a competitive market.

“Further growth in TFP is expected, while the new 3DP business will set a new course for the Group in 2016 and beyond.
      
“It is anticipated that the Group will continue to operate in line with the board’s expectations for this year.

“I am pleased with the progress we have made in the first half of this financial year and that focused operational and commercial initiatives continue to strengthen our long term prospects.”
