Entrepreneurs Week set for Manchester launch

THE world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship comes to Manchester this week.

It is the national launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week with Rise, part of Barclays’ physical sites for innovative companies on Deansgate, playing host to a kick-off event backed by tech entrepreneur and former Dragon, Piers Linney.

Minister for Small Business, Industry & Enterprise Anna Soubry will open the event today, which will see more speakers than ever pass on tips around mentoring, innovation and business planning at this prestigious launch.

Manchester-based start-ups Rachael Turner, co-founder of innovation organisation Manchester Digital Laboratory and Richard Milnes, co-founder of business intelligence firm Juliand, will be among the presenters while Michael Hartig, managing director for Barclays in the North West will provide key insight on support for entrepreneurs in the region.

Linney co-chief executive of Manchester-based Outsourcery, said: “Supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs is key to building a thriving economy and is an opportunity to reduce youth unemployment both in Manchester and across the UK. Global Entrepreneurship Week provides a great opportunity to inspire and mentor young people that are the key to our future.”

Andrew Devenport, chief executive of Youth Business International, one of the organisations behind the initiative, said: “If you’re looking to start or grow your business, then there’s no better opportunity to get support than during Global Entrepreneurship Week.”
