Refurb of Liverpool University’s Chadwick building complete

A PROJECT to refurbish facilities within the Chadwick Building at the University of Liverpool has completed.

The £1.1m programme, commissioned by the UoL facilities management team, was designed by Preston and Chester-based architectural, building surveying and planning practice Cassidy + Ashton.

The aims was to create modern facilities for the Institute of Risk and Uncertainty (IRU), a centre for research and education dedicated to helping people and organisations create a safer world.

Works, which spanned approximately 11,000sq ft, included the refurbishment of unused offices, meeting rooms and lecture space, as well as the replacement of windows, doors, flooring, lighting, roof coverings and the installation of new toilet facilities.

Dave Owen, chartered building surveyor and director at Cassidy + Ashton, said: “Since the introduction of increased tuition fees, it’s now more important than ever for universities to offer students the best facilities possible.

“We have completed a number of projects at the University of Liverpool and are proud to be continuing our long-term relationship with this recent contract.”
