Hiring Hub wins innovation grant

ONLINE recruitment innovator Hiring Hub has been awarded a government grant to help it develop a new cloud-based recruitment system for small and medium-sized businesses.

The Manchester company has has secured a £100,000 grant from Innovate UK, to part-fund a new product to help SMEs easily source and manage third-party recruitment suppliers, and their end-to-end recruitment process, and has now got a team of 16 people.

It is working on a prototype online platform to give SMEs in the UK enterprise-level recruitment software at low cost.

Co-founder and chief executive Simon Swan said: “The grant throws additional fuel on our plans to create a truly market-leading, intelligent online recruitment platform utilising the very latest technology to transform how companies in the UK find and hire experienced candidates, while greatly accelerating their recruitment process and dramatically cutting the amount of paper-shuffling and administration normally associated with hiring.”

The funding from Innovate UK comes as Hiring Hub – which celebrated its fifth birthday at the beginning of November by announcing 40% year-on year growth – goes from strength to strength.

Swan added:“We’ve doubled our headcount in 2015 and are currently in the process of knocking through into an adjacent office (in Fourways House on Hilton Street) to keep pace with growth and accommodate a burgeoning team.”

Formerly called the Technology Strategy Board, Innovate UK is an executive, non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills. It has invested over £1.5bn to help more than 5,000 companies bring forward projects estimated to add £7.5bn to the economy and create 35,000 jobs.
