People: Weightmans; Hurst Corporate Finance

NICK Peel, partner in the police team at Weightmans’ Liverpool office has taken over the role of regional office head from predecessor David Lewis who has moved to head up the firm’s new office in Leeds. He was regional office head in Manchester for 10 years from 2002 when leading that office.

Peel, who has worked for Weightmans for 32 years, is also a keen golfer and member at Royal Liverpool, Hoylake. He specialises in defending public and employers’ liability cases against the police, predominantly for the Greater Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales forces, with operational planning and training inputs.

He said: “I am extremely excited about my new role, and looking to continue the outstanding work that David has done in raising the profile of the Liverpool office. My role will focus on Weightmans’ ongoing commitment to the business community in Liverpool and the North West region.

THE corporate finance division of regional accountancy firm Hurst has boosted its skill set with the appointment of its first dedicated deal originator.

Kinga Drzewiecka, 29, joins from Manchester-based Zeus Capital, where she was a corporate finance executive in its private company and private equity team. In her new role with Hurst she is providing expertise in identifying potential buyers for businesses whose owners are looking to sell.

Nigel Barratt, head of Hurst corporate finance, said: “This is an entirely new role within our team and Kinga’s impressive track record makes her the ideal person for the position. We have a strong pipeline of businesses to sell, and Kinga will enhance our offering by identifying potential buyers in the UK and overseas.”

Before joining Zeus, Drzewiecka worked as a corporate finance executive at Deloitte in Manchester. Her experience includes working on disposals, acquisitions, mergers and management buyouts, debt raising, company valuations and providing strategic advice for corporate and private equity transactions.

APP developer Apadmi has bolstered its senior leadership team with the appointment of Karl Gilbank as commercial director.

Gilbank, who joins from Warrington-based Airangel,  will lead the commercial team at the Manchester firm, where he will be responsible for successfully managing company growth, identifying new opportunities and advising senior management on new markets to explore.

He has more than 20 years’ experience within the mobile sector and said: “Apadmi are true experts in mobile technology and a clear market leader, with award wins, accreditations and global rankings to back this up. Therefore, I was really keen to join its experienced team and with my extensive expertise within the sector, it was a perfect match.”
