Walkabout at Printworks opens after £500,000 conversion

THE second Walkabout bar in Manchester has opened following a £500,000 conversion from its former incarnation as a Henry J Beans.

A VIP party heralded the opening in the new Printworks location, benefiting from urban decor, a state-of-the-art reef bar where linked screens showing under sea and surf footage combine with specialist lighting to give the impression of being under water in a coral reef.

Bosses believe their impressive sound and light system tops everything off, making Walkabout at The Printworks one of Manchester’s ultimate party venues.

The new opening has created 60 permanent new bar, kitchen and management jobs.

The new-style venue boasts a variety of pre-bookable booths and private areas for parties, meals, club nights and live music.

Already well known for its legendary party nights and live sports, the new venue has been designed make it the perfect meeting place for drinks before events at Manchester Arena, as well as an impromptu coffee or relaxing lunch for shoppers.

Martin Angus, general manager, said: “The venue is looking phenomenal and we can’t wait to show people what we’ve got on offer, from party nights and live music to unbeatable big match atmosphere for the packed year of sport we have ahead of us.”

Fred Booth, director at The Printworks, said: “Walkabout is set to bring an exciting new vibrancy to the Printworks complex, which is already Manchester’s number one party venue.

“Walkabout’s addition to our scheme heralds the start of an exciting new year of change and really compliments the new openings we have coming in 2016.”
