Jet2.com owner’s profits to soar

AIRLINE and distribution group Dart is expecting to record a rise in pre-tax profits when it announces its results for the first half of the year.
However the firm behind Jet2.com and Fowler Welch-Coolchain has forecast increased losses in the second half as the group grows.
In a trading update the company said Jet2.com – which flies to more than 30 destinations from Manchester Airport – had a “satisfactory summer” despite the disruption to services caused by the Icelandic ash cloud.
The airline, which recently announced plans to start services from Glasgow next year, had improved yields and load factors on its flights and described its first year of operations from East Midlands airport as “encouraging”.
On its food distribution business Fowler Welch-Coolchain, Dart said its new distribution centre at Heywood was now up and running and helping to attract new customers.
The company, which distributes food for a range of UK supermarkets and suppliers, is growing in line with expectations, Dart said. The goup will report its interim results in November.
