£1m spa launches at Lake District hotel

A NEW £1m spa has opened at Appleby Manor Country House Hotel in Cumbria, creating eight additional jobs.

The Garden Spa has been purpose built in the grounds of the four star hotel and has been launched with the help of funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Facilities include a hydrotherapy pool and thermal suite which features a salt inhalation room, steam room, sauna, showers and foot spa.

There are also five treatment rooms where customers can enjoy an array of therapies including massages, facials, waxing and body treatments as well as a separate manicure and pedicure area.

Outside, the spa also has two spa baths located in a relaxing garden area with fire pits.

The hotel’s owners, husband and wife team Mike and Angela Dunbobbin say the addition of the spa will turn the facility  into a “destination venue”.

The new spa is open to public as well as hotel guests and residents living in the surrounding area will also be able to take on a local beauty club membership.

Royal Bank of Scotland has supported the development of the new spa with a fee-free loan..

Mike Dunbobbin said: “The new spa is outstanding and we are thrilled with the results. The facilities are first class and will enable customers to achieve the ultimate levels of relaxation.

“The addition of a spa has been one of our key objectives for the business for a number of years.  By developing it, we have not only improved the facilities on offer at the hotel but we have also widened our potential customer base and created additional revenue streams.

“I’d like to thank the team at Royal Bank of Scotland for their support which has enabled us to complete the project to an impeccably high standard.  The funding we have received has meant that we have been able to create a first class spa that has the best facilities on offer.”

Georgie McRoberts, relationship director at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “The Garden Spa is a great addition to the hotel and will prove undoubtedly popular with visitors and local residents alike. Mike, Angela and their team have created an amazing facility and we are looking forward to continuing to work alongside them on this project.”
