£4.1m mixed-use healthcare facility complete

PRIMARY care property developer Assura has completed its latest North West scheme, a £4.1m mixed-use development with an integrated primary care facility in Urmston, Greater Manchester.

The building was delivered in partnership with LSP Developments, and now brings 11,29 sq ft. of healthcare space and resource to the local community.

Its has replaced the main practice in Urmston and a branch surgery which was already located on the new development site.

Including a minor ops suite and multipurpose clinical rooms which enable the delivery of general practice services and GP training facilities, the building also has additional retail units and residential accommodation for Trafford Housing Trust.

Paul Warwick, project manager at Assura, said: “As the NHS moves towards a more integrated approach to the delivery of health and social care, the provision of intelligent premises plays a vital role in ensuring the growth of a local inter-practice network. The completion of the new practice now brings a multipurpose neighbourhood centre that can support primary and secondary care services in the Trafford area.”

Deborah Darlington, practice manager at Urmston Group Practice said “The completion of the building, including a medical centre providing modern, up to date facilities, is a splendid addition to Urmston and the wider community.”

Phil Lilley at LSP Developments, said: “The modernisation of UK community practices supports more virtual communication and the transfer of secondary care services to primary practices. These measures help cut costs whilst offering a diverse spectrum of facilities for patients so we are looking forward to noting the long-term impact for Urmston.

The new premises for Urmston Group Practice is the first in a pipeline of northern projects for the Warrington-based developer, with further projects in the pipeline for Greater Manchester in 2016.
