New era for Formby Hall Golf Resort after sale

FORMBY Hall Golf Resort & Spa has been sold to C S Hotels for an undisclosed sum.

Acting on behalf of Formby Hall, CBRE completed the deal for the resort at the heart of England’s “Golf Coast” between Southport and Liverpool.

Set within 183 acres of parkland, Formby Hall combines the individuality of a 62-bed boutique hotel with the facilities of a four-star luxury spa and golf resort including multiple high-trading restaurants; L37 Restaurant and Cocktail Bar Lounge, 19th Hole bar, Java Lounge reception and Spa Bistro

The resort is well known for the high-profile Formby Hall Golf Club, which is accustomed to hosting major events which have included the European Challenge Tour, the Senior and European Pro Tour events.

It is the newest of the three venues to be used for the inaugural England Golf Coast Pro-Am and has already built a deserved reputation as a fine test of golf.

The new owners are set to invest in upgrading the facilities.

General manager Andrew Pyle said: “The resort management team are committed to delivering a seamless transition for our employees, members, guests and suppliers.

“The whole team are very excited about the proposed future plans for the resort which initially include a refurbishment of the existing guest rooms, enhancements to the spa, The 19th Hole Bar, L37 Restaurant and both event rooms.  Works are due to commence shortly and this phase is due to be completed by the end of spring 2016.”

CBRE senior director Shaun Skidmore added: “We are pleased to announce the sale of the highly prestigious Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa to C S Hotels.

“The company is delighted to have acquired this successful resort and has revealed plans for continued investment, building on its first class reputation.”
