Football legend lined-up for Masters awards

FOOTBALL legend Kevin Keegan, a former star player with Liverpool and manager of Manchester City and England, will be guest speaker at the North West Business Masters Awards on March 10.

Keegan, who made his name playing in the great Liverpool team of the 1970s before being crowned European Footballer of the Year while playing for German side Hamburg, retired from football management in 2008 after a second spell with Newcastle United.

It was in his first spell with the Magpies that Keegan made his name as a Masters Convexmanager as he took the North East club close to second place in the Premier League in 1996. Keegan’s team won praise for playing a highly attractive style of football and led the way in the table for most of the season, before being pipped at the post by Manchester United.

At the black tie dinner on March 10 at Manchester’s Midland Hotel, the 64-year-old will be speaking about his successful and eventful career, the lessons he’s learned, and the value of looking forward instead of reflecting on past glories.

Around 500 people are expected to attend the awards, which will begin with cocktails and culminate in a post-event party.
