Hotel group profits and revenue soar in 25th year

MACDONALD Hotels, which runs the Macdonald Manchester Hotel and Spa is celebrating soaring profits to £155.7m – up 7%.

Group turnover also rose to 11% to £16.9m  for the year to April 2 as the company celebrates its 25th year.

Macdonald North West managing director Debbie Taylor said: “All of us at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa welcome this news, which underpins Group plans to continue to invest in facilities for the thousands of guests we welcome each year.

“It’s also a great way to mark the company’s first quarter century which we continue to celebrate in 2016.”

Ruaridh Macdonald, deputy chief executive said: “We enjoyed significant benefit last year from major events including The Ryder Cup, the Commonwealth Games, The Open Golf Championship and the Farnborough Air show, with hotel sales up by 7% and hotel operating profit up by 10%.”

“During the year we invested £16m into our hotels and resorts, including refurbishing bedrooms, upgrading spa facilities as well as our IT infrastructure and website. This year we have £9m already invested and a further £5m to be invested in our continuing major bedroom refurbishment programmes.”
