People: CBRE; JS Burgess; Scantec; & more

CBRE has appointed Victoria Hill as regional director to expand the firm’s Capital Advisory (debt & structured finance) team, bringing real estate finance advisory and brokerage expertise to the UK regions for the first time.

Hill will be based in Manchester as the first team member to work outside of London.

An investment surveyor by background, Hill has spent the last 10 years in the property finance industry at RBS providing joint venture equity, mezzanine and senior debt facilities to UK funds, PropCos and HNWIs.

At CBRE, shewill work closely with the Capital Markets teams in Manchester and the regions to extend the Debt & Structured Finance capability directly to those markets.

Hill will support clients in all debt-related aspects of transactions focusing on origination, structuring, sourcing and the procurement of debt facilities, bringing together lenders with regional appetite with borrowers acquiring regional assets.

Hill added: “My specialism in regional lending brings a new service to clients in the regions and is a dedicated resource that isn’t commonplace amongst regional offices. JS Burgess Engineering Ltd, the UK’s largest independent stillage design and manufacturing company, has announced the appointment of Linda Hall as financial controller.

An ACA qualified accountant with a degree from the University of Nottingham, Hall joins JS Burgess from Manchester chartered accountancy firm, Alexander & Co. She has experience across the entire spectrum of management accounting and preparation for corporation tax and accounts auditing, as well as experience in external auditing while working in Manchester.

Jonny Patoff, managing director of the Whaley Bridge-based company said: “Bringing Linda on board is a key step in ensuring that our plans are built on solid foundations. Linda brings more than a decade of financial experience to JS Burgess, and it will be vital to have that knowledge within the management team in the coming months.”

SPECIALIST recruitment firm Scantec has employed four new staff members as part of continued growth plans for 2016.

Scantec, with its head office in Birkenhead, is ranked as one of the top 10 technical and engineering recruitment agencies in the UK and employs over 60 staff.

New appointment Simon Weise joins the firm as business development manager.  Simon has a background in consultancy work and will act as a business development consultant for Scantec’s IT division.

Other appointments include Adele Byrne and Angela Copeland who strengthen the administration team and Cara Fletcher, an expert in construction recruitment, who has been appointed as a researcher for Scantec’s HSEQ team.

Scantec has also promoted two staff to new roles.  Helen Darnell has been promoted from administrator to researcher for the FMCG division.  Georgia Thompson has moved from the administration team to payroll.

INDEPENDENT building and project consultancy Paragon has boosted its Manchester office following three new appointments.  

Jerome Broderick has joined from Cushman & Wakefield as senior building surveyor and Aled Howells, who previously worked at Mace, has arrived as associate director project manager.  Tom Clayton also joins as a graduate surveyor.

SAM Hughes has been appointed as head of digital at integrated PR and marketing agency Roland Dransfield.

The 29-year-old will oversee the digital strategy and offering for all the Manchester-based agency’s clients.

Before joining Roland Dransfield Hughes spent more than three years as head of digital at marketing agency Journey 9.

He also worked as a copywriter and campaigns manager earlier on his career.

FORWARD Role Recruitment has boosted its digital team with the appointment of David Nottage to manage the client-side digital sector. 

Nottage joins from Badenoch & Clark with a reputation of not only being a successful recruiter, but as a person who is passionate about quality to both clients and candidates. 

Sam Shinners also returns to Forward Role, after a break to start a family, to work in the team.

Forward Role’s newest recruit is Shaun Dickson who joins as creative consultant, to manage its clients’ growing need for UX, UI and design professionals.

Another important appointment for the company is the addition of Lisa Atherton as finance and operations manager.  Her appointment reflects the rapid growth that the company has seen over the last year and our ambition for further growth in 2016.

ENGINEERING specialist Haden Freeman, based in Denton, Greater Manchester has bolstered its senior team with a new high level appointment.

Duncan Cammack boasts a wealth of industry experience, having worked in the commodities sector as well as in a site-based capacity for a combined 30 years. He joins the company as sales and marketing director.

He will primarily focus on winning new business and supporting Haden Freeman’s ambitious growth strategy, that, in recent years, has seen it expand to the North East, Southampton, and as far as Qatar.

His role will also involve focusing on further improving customer satisfaction across the firm’s high profile client base.

NICHE property marketing specialist Blaze Marketing has appointed David Gaskell as graphic designer in its Manchester office.

Gaskell will complement and further strengthen Blaze’s robust design and delivery credentials and will be based at the firm’s office on St Ann’s Street.

After successfully graduating from Leeds College of Art, where he studied graphic design, Gaskell went on to hone his design experience and capabilities with a range of roles at a number of design studios, including Manchester Solutions, MARK Studio, B&W Studio and, most recently, Creative Spark.
