Filter company sucks up local rival

ALLIED Filter Systems, based at Irlam, Greater Manchester, has completed the purchase of Wolf Filtration for an undisclosed sum.

Family-owned AFS  is the UK’s market leading manufacturer of liquid filter bags, filter housings and fabricated strainers.

Its bosses say the company and Ashton-Under-Lyne-based Wolf share the same core values, a broadly similar product line and have activity within the same market sectors, making the integration of the two companies a natural progression.

Chris Thompson, co-owner of AFS alongside Brother Dan, said: “We would like to thank David Oliver and Steve Walton, the founders of Wolf Filtration, for their assistance during the acquisition process and we look forward to continuing and developing our relationship with the customers and suppliers of the company.

“The acquisition will allow us to grow the business and consolidate our position as a market leader in the sector.”

Mike Holligan, relationship director for Barclays Corporate Banking in Manchester said: “Barclays has enjoyed a strong relationship with the Thompson family for 40 years. Wolf Filtration is an excellent strategic fit and we look forward to seeing Chris and Dan take the business to the next level in the months and years ahead.”
