Airport passenger numbers soaring

GROWTH in passenger numbers at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) continued in February with 22% more travellers choosing to fly through LJLA compared to the same period last year.

Almost 60,000 more passengers used LJLA last. All six airlines currently operating from Liverpool are reporting higher passenger load factors and increased capacity which has contributed to the growing numbers, as more passengers chose to fly through LJLA in February.

This month sees the start of a number of new services from Liverpool too. Vueling is due to start its inaugural service to Barcelona and Wizz Air will launch flights to both Budapest and Katowice.

March also sees the return of Czech Airlines with their twice weekly flights to Prague, following their successful peak summer season last year.

2015 was Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s busiest year since 2012 with an 8% passenger increase compared to 2014 and the new services starting later this month are expected to contribute towards a continued upsurge in business at the Airport in 2016.
