Traffic chaos on motorway

A SERIOUS road accident closed the southbound M6 near Lancaster this morning, causing chaos for thousands of people travelling to work.

Traffic was being advised to leave the motorway at junction 36 (Crooklands) and junction 34 (Lancaster).

Motorists were advised to leave the M6 at J36 and follow diversions along the A65 eastbound towards Kirkby Lonsdale before taking the A683 southbound through Melling and Hornby before rejoining the M6 at J34.

Truckers were also warned the is a height restriction of 15ft 6 ins on the diversion route.
