TheBusinessDesk.com expands with journalist appointments

THEBUSINESSDESK.COM is continuing its growth with the appointment of two journalists to run a new section on the regional business news website.

Business Bytes , which launches today, will provide engaging business content aimed at the younger end of the workforce. It will focus on careers, the workplace and personal development.

Bethan Tolley and Stephanie Balloo joined TheBusinessDesk.com this month and will be writing for the Business Bytes section.

The latest investment in journalism follows last month’s launch of the East Midlands region, which is being led by Sam Metcalf.

It is part of an £800,000 investment programme which will result in a doubling of staff numbers to support its plans to double its audience.

The sales and support teams are also increasing, with a three-strong telesales department being created next month and a further expansion of the in-house digital team.

With the addition of the East Midlands region and Business Bytes, TheBusinessDesk.com is on track to achieve growth of 55% and hit 12 million page views in 2016, up from 6.5 million in 2014 and 7.7 million in 2015.

“We want to continue to expand our reach and to provide a broader range of articles for our audience. We have high hopes for the Business Bytes section.

“It is also important that we continue to invest in journalism and develop talent, and the recruitment of Bethan and Stephanie is evidence of this commitment.”
