Restaurant says buongiorno to summer menu – an expansion

MANCHESTER restaurant San Carlo Cicchetti has launched it new summer menu and has announced plans for further expansion.
Its sister restaurant to the family-owned San Carlo Group, including the recently opened Cicchetti Doha in Qatar, is close to unveiling a new site in London and will open new sites in Dubair and Bahrain in 2017.
Cicchetti re-interprets the Venetian culinary custom of cicchetti – delicious small plate dishes to share or eat alone, enjoyed with a beer or glass of wine.
The 100-seat venue on King Street West opened to critical acclaim in October 2010 and quickly established itself as a firm favourite with diners from across the region, winning a string of awards along the way.
Marcello Distefano, managing director of the group, said “Cicchetti is a concept close to our hearts. When we opened it was a dining concept new to the city.
“It’s thrilling to see how people have embraced it and is a blueprint for much of our current and future expansion. Cicchetti Doha, for example, which opened this month is already off to a flying start.”
Summer dishes on offer include: Carpaccio beef marinated in red wine with artichoke and beetroot dressing; Beef Calabrese with Sicilian tomato tartare and Stracciatella (the creamy part of burrata) from Puglia; Cod Sapporao – Venetian cod dish marinated for 48 hours with red onion, brown sugar and white wine vinegar; Spaghetti alla Cipolla – 24 hours in the making, a traditional comfort food with onion and monks beard from Tuscany; pan fried scallop with pea and mint risotto; white radicchio salad with vinagrett, Italian eggs, bacon and red onion; mashed borad bean, parmesan, mint and basil on grilled bread with matured salted ricotta from Southern Italy; black salt backed seabass – whole fillet with peppercorns, lemon and parsley.
