KPMG shuffles its senior team

Jonathan Boyers

BUSINESS advisory firm KPMG has announced three appointments in its senior leadership team in the north.

In response to strong activity in the regional deals market, corporate finance partner Jonathan Boyers has been asked to lead KPMG’s approach to M&A services and cement the firm’s position at the heart of Northern transactions.

Boyers has led several completed transactions in recent months, including the acquisition of toy manufacturer SAMBRO by Elysian Capital, and the £102m sale of BDP to Nippon Koei, as well as the sales of Imerja to Inter City Technologies, Arthouse to NorthEdge and GMT Manufacturing to Trackwork.

The appointment means that Stuart Burdass, who has spent more than 28 years at KPMG, will replace Boyers as head of KPMG Enterprise in the North.

Burdass is experienced in the public listed and private caHpital market places and has supported many of the region’s leading companies, including the likes of JD Sports plc, Moneysupermarket plc, Betfred, Warburtons and EMR.

Audit Partner Nicola Quayle, who is also a non-executive director on KPMG’s UK board, has assumed Burdass’ former role to lead the firm’s audit practice in the North of England.

Quayle has been an audit partner at KPMG since 2008 and has worked with a number of large publicly-owned and private equity-backed clients, including Booker Group, Pets at Home, Speedy Hire, Stobart Group and Four Seasons Health Care. She was chairman of pro.Manchester until July 2014 and remains a member of the pro.Manchester Board.

Chris Hearld, Northern chairman at KPMG, said: “The first six months of 2016 are proving to be one of our most active periods in terms of deal activity and, with Jonathan’s guidance, our M&A offering will no doubt go from strength to strength.

“The appointment has enabled us to recognise senior leadership talent throughout our firm. It has been a pleasure to ask Stuart to lead our commitment to the entrepreneurial community and Nicola in taking on the audit practice, which a critically important part of our business.”

The appointments are effective immediately.
