Expansion brewing for Pot Kettle Black

MANCHESTER city centre coffee house Pot Kettle Black is expanding its premises in Barton Arcade on Deansgate and launching a new brunch menu.

It will be closing from Monday 23rd May to 6th June while the refurbishment works take place; which will include a new kitchen – serving a new seasonal brunch menu – and a new express hatch for coffee and healthy breakfasts to go.

Owned  by rugby league stars Jon Wilkin and Mark Flanagan, who play for St Helens and Salford Reds respectively, PKB’s renovated premises will expand into what was Tracy’s sandwich shop next door and the extra space will now allow for an additional 20 covers.

PKB is also recruiting for experienced baristas to join the team.

Wilkin and Flanagan said: “The site we are in is perfect for attracting leisure and business customers so it made sense to expand our premises to cope with the growing demand we are experiencing. “

The busness was first launched in 2014, and the pair expect the expansion to take annual turnover to £800,000.

They added: “Lunchtime is our busiest time with people often queuing out of the door so we knew we had to offer additional seating. We’re looking to take on new recruits too to build on our successful team and the new brunch menu will feature modern interpretations on classic breakfast dishes.”
