Plans in for £50m Daresbury development

PLANS for a £50m housing development in Daresbury have been submitted by housebuilder Redrow.

The initial planning application is for 850 homes on 75 acres of the 140 acre site, with the potential for a total of 1,200 homes to be built over time, subject to planning. The first phase would deliver 295 homes.

The proposed scheme will be a mix of residential and commercial comprising two, three and four-bedroom homes, along with office and research accommodation to complement the neighbouring Daresbury Science and Innovation campus.

The site will feature large areas of public open green space, including parks and recreation areas, cycle paths, footpaths, wetlands and ponds, as well as other ecological areas to support local wildlife and conservation.

Future plans include a marina, a commercial centre and a local centre with community facilities such as retail outlets and cafes.

Situated just over 1.5km from Daresbury village and less than 5km from Runcorn town centre, the development land lies adjacent to Redrow’s new North West divisional office at Cinnabar Court, Daresbury Park.

John Grime, managing director of Redrow Homes (NW), said: “This is a strategically important site for Redrow, further emphasising our commitment to Daresbury and the wider Halton area.  It is an exciting new development and one that will take shape over a number of years via a phased approach.

“Our masterplan offers a vision to create a vibrant and sustainable community which will help to meet market demand – providing a range of high quality aspirational family homes, first-rate local facilities and significant employment opportunities.

“Daresbury has seen much investment over recent years, establishing itself as a successful enterprise zone; supporting the creation of new businesses and jobs, and as a hub of innovation, science and technology. We are proud to be based in this location and look forward to working on this scheme which will add significant value to the area.”

A decision on the planning application is expected later in the year.
