10 things to do in the North West this Bank Holiday weekend

Sunny Afternoon
Step into the swinging 60s and learn about the story of one of Britain’s greatest bands, The Kinks. Sunny Afternoon is at Manchester’s Opera House this weekend for you to enjoy and sing along with the likes of Lola, Waterloo Sunset and You Really Got Me. Canal FestivalBotany Bay Canal Fest
Head down to Botany Bay in Chorley this weekend to celebrate 200 years of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. There will be fun and entertainment for the whole family, including boating experiences down the canal, bumper boat rides and games to play. If you have ever fancied a go at archery, this Sunday is your perfect opportunity. Speke Hall in Liverpool are putting on an archery taster challenge, offering locals the chance to learn a new skill as well as enjoying a family challenge. Head to Darwen’s Library Theatre on Saturday evening for a nostalgic evening of soul. The Northern Soul Reimagined takes classic Northern Soul anthems and presents them in ways that you have never seen them, showing the real beauty behind the lyrics and melodies. Bolton Food and DrinkPleasure beach at The Octagon
The Octagon auditorium in Bolton will be transformed into a seaside pleasure beach, making it the perfect place to play with the kids on the last weekend of August. The event, which is part of Bolton Food and Drink Festival, will play host to a fun fair and a range of other activities including face painting, donkey rides and henna.
