Pirate Festival on the Dock
There will fun for all the family with Pirate Festival sailing into Liverpool this weekend. Not only will there be live entertainment including swordfights, storytelling and a pirates and mermaid parade, the tall ship Phoenix, which has starred in Poldark and Doctor Who, will form the centrepiece of a dramatic live pirate battle that will include cannon fire and a cast of actors who have worked on Game of Thrones and Pirate of the Caribbean! The Shawshank Redemption
Despite protests of his innocence, Andy Dufresne is handed a double life sentence for the brutal murder of his wife and her lover at the notorious Shawshank facility. The 1994 film was nominated for seven Academy Awards and saw huge success. One of Liverpool’s best-known exports Craig Charles returns to his hometown this weekend for what is set to be a blowout performance on Saturday evening. Craig will be bringing a range of music to his set and fans can expect a journey through the hey-days of funk and soul, with the occasional contemporary twist. Spice Festival
Blackburn Market are holding their first ever Spice Festival on Saturday from 11am-5pm. There will be stalls selling spicy treats from chilli ice cream to spicy wine. There will be a range of opportunities to try before you buy and there will also be a chilli dare competition. Curve Fashion Festival
The UK’s largest plus size event will be coming to the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool on Saturday. The event will showcase the very best in plus size fashion and visitors will have the chance to view and shop the latest collections from big high street names including River Island, Simply Be and Marks & Spencer. There will also be a range of independent retailers, beauty brands and a make-up studio. There will also be a few famous faces at the event, including Gogglebox’s Sandi and Sandra. Get into the spirit of the Great British Bake Off and head along to this fun cake workshop on Saturday. The class will be an introduction into cake decorating where you will learn how to fill, layer and cover a sponge cake. The workshop, which is at Slattery in Whitefield, Manchester, will give you the perfect excuse to show off your new skills to your friends and family.
