Thumbs up for Euro Garages site near Chester

PLANNING consent has been granted for a new petrol filling station for Euro Garages on land north of Chester near to the city’s business park.

Approval has been given for the development of a new petrol filling station to include modern facilities and a convenience store to extend the welfare to motorists travelling to and from Cheshire.

The site is situated on green belt land, on Wrexham Road to the north of Chester and in close proximity to Chester Business Park.

Cheshire West and Chester Council granted permission for the development, which follows the refusal of two previous applications and an unsuccessful planning appeal by the previous owner.

Following negotiations with the council, it accepted that the Euro Garages proposals would create a high quality design, which would not impact on the surrounding green belt. Construction work is due to start shortly.

Mike Hopkins, planning director at JLL in Manchester which secured the permission, said: “The development was carefully designed with its green belt location in mind and it will make an important contribution to services within the local area, including the adjoining business park.

“The proposal will provide important facilities for motorists, create local jobs, and bring investment to the area.”

Ilyas Munshi, commercial director at Euro Garages, said: “This is a prime location and we are confident it will benefit enormously from the investment.

“We have worked hard to ensure our plans for the site complement the surrounding area, something underlined by Cheshire West and Chester Council’s decision to grant planning approval.

“We are now looking forward to bringing our unique offer of leading retail brands on the Wrexham Road forecourt.”
