AA Hospitality rosettes for Lakes restaurants

TWO Lake District restaurants are among 29 of the nation’s top eateries to be awarded AA Hospitality rosettes.

Forest Side in Grasmere and The Cottage in the Wood at Braithwaite have each received three rosettes in the AA Hospitality Awards 2016.

The Forest Side is a luxurious hotel and restaurant – described on its website as a fairytale gothic mansion, and “the fulfilment of a romantic dream”.

“Set in the magical Lake District landscape of Wordsworth’s beloved Grasmere, this beautiful house charmed visitors for over a century before falling into disrepair.

“But, like Sleeping Beauty, The Forest Side has been reawakened. Enchanting gardens are emerging from the wilderness while our fabulous rooms are fit for any prince or princess.

“In the kitchen our talented head chef, Kevin Tickle, conjures menus inspired by the walled garden and countryside beyond.”

Located in the heart of Whinlatter, England’s only Mountain forest, The Cottage in the Wood is a 17th century restaurant with rooms that has been restored.

The Cottage claims to provide a tranquil and relaxing ambience and is the perfect base for exploring the magic of the Lakes whilst enjoying creative and original food.

“The quality of our food and wine has won several regional and national awards and gained recognition in the leading food and accommodation guides,” its website said.
