Chemical firm takes offices in centre of city

SPECIALILITY chemicals company Catexel is expanding into Manchester – the reigning European City of Science 2016 – with a new operational office in the heart of the city.

The team has taken office space at 111 Piccadilly, as part of a period of rapid growth within the company, having recently taken on two full time employees and three interns.

With its headquarters in Derby and a laboratory facility in Leiden in the Netherlands, Catexel claims to be committed to pioneering innovation in the chemicals sector and creating opportunities that support positive change in industry.

Chief executive Paul Smith said: “It is important for us to have an operational base that is both in a prime location within the UK and with international links. As we have a global partner base, access to Manchester Airport is hugely beneficial, particularly as our main lab is in the Netherlands and most of our customers are based further afield.

“Manchester was a natural choice for us to open an office – it’s widely recognised as a scientific hub in the UK – particularly given the city’s current title of European City of Science 2016.

“111 Piccadilly is a great location and opening a commercial centre of excellence allows the team to grow and continue to innovate in the chemicals sector.”
