Constructor gets on £10m framework for uni campus development

GRAHAM Construction has secured a place on a framework to deliver a transformational campus development programme for the University of Manchester.

The framework will enable GRAHAM to bid for contracts worth up to £10m over the next four years as part of the University of Manchester’s £1bn Campus Masterplan, a 10-year estate investment programme to create a world-class campus by 2022.

GRAHAM was chosen as one of three contractors for Lot 4 of a Construction Works Framework for contracts between £4m and up to £10m, and will work with the University of Manchester to complete development and improvement works to new and existing facilities as part of the Campus Masterplan.

Gary Hughes, GRAHAM regional director, said: “We are proud to have been chosen as a delivery partner of choice by the University of Manchester.

“Winning a place on the Campus Masterplan framework is a significant achievement. It reinforces the strength of our specialist education offering and cements GRAHAM Construction’s place at the forefront of the UK’s higher education sector.

“We look forward to building on our relationship with the University of Manchester and working with an innovative, exciting and like-minded organisation to change the face of student learning in Manchester and deliver the UK’s biggest single site university, where students will be studying at one of the most modern campuses in the world.”

GRAHAM has already collaborated with the University of Manchester to deliver a range of refurbishment and modernisation projects worth more than £20m since 2011, including refurbishment works to Hulme Hall Student Residences, The Simon Building and AV Hill Building.

GRAHAM Construction’s North of England division has established itself as a specialist in higher education having successfully delivered projects for the universities of Manchester, Salford, Chester, York, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and Liverpool Hope University.

This framework success is the second largest Manchester-based framework win for GRAHAM in the last year, after being awarded a place on Manchester Life Development Company’s (MLDC) framework to deliver Phase One of a 10-year £1bn investment to redevelop the North East Manchester neighbourhood area.
