Scheme to turn former colliery into major employment park

A PLANNING application for a 14-acre development on the site of a former colliery in Salford has been submitted.

Network Space has tabled the scheme for the former Ashtons Field Colliery, close to the M61.

The scheme would provide for up to 200,000sq ft of new employment floor space.

Approval of the submitted application, expected by the end of the year, will trigger the completion of the sale of the site from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the Government’s housing and regeneration agency.

Network Space Developments managing director Stephen Barnes said “This planning application represents a further crucial step in advancing our development proposals for this important site.

“Once consented, we will be able to advance our marketing efforts at the site with the ability to accommodate enquiries across a wide range of industrial workspace sizes including up to 200,000 sq ft a single unit.

“We are currently working with our agents JLL and LM6 on advancing this strategy whilst continuing to work closely with Salford City Council, the HCA and other partners to ensure that the space can be brought forward as quickly as possible.”
