Talc manufacturer snapped up
A PRESTON manufacturer that specialises in contract manufacturing and packing to the household, personal care and toiletry sector has been sold to a Sheffield-based chemical supplier for an undisclosed sum.
Expac has been sold to GRI Group, which specialises in chemical manufacturing for the pharmaceutical and household sectors.
The £5m turnover family business, which has a 60,000 sq ft manufacturing site in Preston, will become a subsidiary of Graham Royle’s GRI Group.
Its management team will stay in house to deal with day-to-day operations.
GRI sold a major Belgian subsidiary in 2014 and said at the time that it was looking at “exciting” new acquisition opportunities.
Graham Royle, chairman and chief executive of GRI, said: “Expac is a fantastic strategic fit with the rest of our group associate companies. There is virtually no product overlap and the combined range offers superb synergy across the customer base and global geographical markets that we cover.”
On the Belgian deal, as well as the more recent acquisition, a team from Nabarro team advised. BHP Chartered Accountants also advised GRI Group.
