Business park to get ‘Domino’ effect

A GLOBAL developer and manufacturer of coding and marking technologies is celebrating the expansion of its fluids operation with a ground-breaking ceremony on the site of its new state-of-the-art factory on the Senate Business Park in Bootle on Merseyside.

Domino UK manufactures fluids products at its current facility in Sefton, which are shipped directly to major customers, sales channels and over 200 distributors worldwide.

Representatives from Domino, Sefton Council and InvestSefton were joined by Peter Dowd, MP for Bootle at the groundbreaking ceremony.

The company is expanding its fluids manufacturing capability in line with strong business demand for wider ranges of fluids, at greater volumes, with new technologies.

The development continues the success of Domino’s Bootle site which has enjoyed steady growth throughout its 35-year history. The site will allow for expansion of its current production lines as well as investment in state-of-the-art equipment.

The new factory, which will be located in the vicinity of the current facility, will be approximately 170,000sq ft, between two and three times the size of the existing building. High quality, care for the environment, wellbeing and safety are all synonymous with Domino Printing’s brand and these will be enhanced as part of the investment.

Domino currently employs 75 staff in Bootle. The new project will not only safeguard the current workforce but is anticipated to create new jobs when fully operational.

The company has been working with local developers to secure and purchase a suitable site in conjunction with Sefton Council. The building work is now underway, with completion scheduled for mid 2017.

Greg Summers, Domino’s fluids group operations director, based in Bootle, said: “This is very good news for our Sefton site and for our workforce. We have both a committed and motivated workforce and local suppliers, so remaining within the vicinity is an important factor in our decision-making process for this project.

“We are particularly pleased with the sanction and approval for the development of a new manufacturing site to meet our growing demands here in the Liverpool City Region.”

Cllr Ian Maher, Labour leader for Sefton Council, said: “As a Council we have worked very closely and positively with Domino to help them secure a suitable site to continue their long-standing association with the borough.”
