A look inside historic John Lennon and Cynthia wedding venue

LIVERPOOL-based property developer Caro Developments has released new photographs of the former Reece’s Ballroom – where John and Cynthia Lennon were married in 1962 – highlighting its rich history.

Caro will be refurbishing the neo-classical building to create a collection of 91 studio and one bedroom apartments.

Before work begins on the building, the developers revealed a glance inside what remains of the famed ballroom.

As well as photographs, preparation work also uncovered fascinating insights into the history of the building including original tickets, dance cards and posters.

A leaflet advertising a beauty contest revealed that the event at the ballroom was attended by cosmetics entrepreneur Helena Rubenstein.

The developers aim to stay true to the buildings design with no changes being made to the original façade.

Situated above Superdrug on Parker Street, planning permission has been granted to convert the upper floors and rooftop to create the apartments.

Lee Darwen, operations director at Caro Developments, said: “It was so exciting for us to see what was left of the former ballroom and we felt it was very important to share the photographs as a piece of Liverpool’s history.

“We are excited to begin to transform the site into luxury residential apartments and bringing back to life another one of the city’s great buildings.

“The Parker Street residences are truly located in the heart of the city and will be an ideal location to live for young professionals or anybody who loves city living.”
