£10m logistics hub to bring 100 jobs

INTERNATIONAL logistics company GEFCO UK has announced a £10m investment with a new purpose-built facility in south Liverpool which will create around 100 new jobs.

The new logistics hub will provide logistics and supply chain services and help optimise supply chains for GEFCO’s customers.
 
Opening in August 2017, the new 130,000sq ft facility marks the next step in the development of a blueprint for GEFCO’s supply chain excellence programme which will be rolled out in other strategic locations worldwide.
 
Cllr Malcolm Kennedy, Liverpool City Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and Transport and deputy lord mayor said “We are delighted that GEFCO UK are making this significant investment which will create new jobs.

“It will strengthen the region’s manufacturing base and provide for further growth.”

GEFCO managing director Zsolt Vecsera UK said: “This is a significant and exciting investment from GEFCO UK.

“We are embarking on this journey to continue to be a market leader in automotive sequencing and to go from strength to strength.”

GEFCO has a presence presence in 150 countries and is one of the top 10 European Groups.

It achieved a turnover of €4.2bn in 2015 and employs 12,000 staff. With more than 400 business locations worldwide, GEFCO is developing its activities in Southeast Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, in the Balkans, East Asia and South America.
