KPMG revenue tops £2bn

KPMG, professional services firm providing audit, tax, deal advisory, risk and management consulting services, has announced a 6% increase in revenues from £1.958bn to £2.068bn.

The company says it responded well to the market forces which are changing the shape of professional services, specifically audit rotation and the move towards providing large scale, managed services online or in the cloud in the year to September 30.

KPMG secured the audits of companies such as John Lewis Partnership, Standard Life, Balfour Beatty and Wood Group, and its management consulting team won large managed services projects such as the Civil Service Learning contract to provide up to 400,000 civil servants with their learning and development needs.

Jonathan Holt, senior partner of KPMG’s Manchester office, trumpeted 15% growth in the North alone.

He told TheBusinessDesk: “We are the fastest growth region in the UK. Manchester has had a tremendous year.

“In terms of audit, we’ve had some great wins with AO World and Auto Trader.

“For deal advisory, we’ve been involved in 83 deals across the North, worth a total of £6.3bn.

“Manchester is certainly the beating heart of the Northern Powerhouse. Manchester as a city is very vibrant and we’re seeing that in the deal space.

“Brexit has stopped a few deals but it hasn’t had the effect some people thought it would by canning lots of deals – the vast majority have continued.

“An awful lot of companies are now planning for the next phase of Brexit.”
“In tax we’ve had a very strong year. The North has been the strongest part of our tax practice.

“We’ve promoted four partners in the year and nine directors in the North West.

“We’re investing a lot in the North – particularly in Manchester and Leeds.”
