Ashbrook buys former Hewden sites

CHESHIRE-based plant hire specialist Ashbrook Plant has acquired two depots previously owned by the collapsed Stretford, Greater Manchester crane rental firm Hewden.

The family-run company has bought sites in Warrington and Bangor, North Wales.

Ashbrook managing director James Ashbrook told Construction Enquirer: “While we were all sad to see the news regarding Hewden, we are pleased to report that we were able to react quickly and diligently to secure both depots and assets.

“In addition to the future and  livelihood of the workforce in Warrington and Bangor.”

The new business will be called Ashbrook (Warrington) and Ashbrook (Bangor) respectively, based at the same locations previously operated by Hewden.

Ashbrook went on: “We are open for business and working with customers to ensure a smooth transition. We have already invested over £3m in new access platforms, cherry pickers and dumpers to add to the existing plant fleet.

“All ensuring contractors across Cheshire and North Wales have the very latest machines to minimise down time and maximise productivity.”

Hewden collapsed last month with the loss of 251 jobs.
