Wheel get you cycling – needy families told

CONSTRUCTION and waste company the Carroll Group has donated bikes to families in need in Merseyside this Christmas.

Working alongside housing association One Vision Housing (OVH) and charity initiatve Sefton4Good, the Liverpool-based business donated both brand-new and used bikes that had been sent to waste.

The bikes were refurbished and donated to local community groups including Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre, Liverpool Veterans and a local food bank.

Debbie Porter, family support worker at Netherton Park Community Centre, said: “It was incredibly kind of the Carroll Group to donate these bikes.

“This means the world to the people who use our services and we are so grateful for the gesture. We hope to continue working closely with these businesses in the new year.”

Terry Carroll, director of the Carroll Group, said: “As a waste management company, we see lots of perfectly good bikes dumped every year.

“We have been collecting these bikes and refurbishing them to a high standard before donating them to local families who would otherwise not be able to afford to buy a present like this at Christmas.

“Giving back to the community is a key part of our business and we have a responsibility as a local company to ensure that everything we do benefits people living in the area.”

The Carroll Group has two companies – W Carroll & Sons and Carroll Waste.

W Carroll & Sons is a construction company working across all general building trades.

Carroll Waste is one of the North West’s leading waste management companies and specialises in providing expert solutions for both domestic and trade waste, including skip hire.
