178-home Tameside scheme gets the thumbs up

A SCHEME to build 178 new homes on a 12-acre site in Audenshaw, Greater Manchester has been approved.
HOW Planning secured full planning permission on behalf of Taylor Wimpey for the residential development in the Tameside borough.
The development is on the former Mono Pumps site on Martin Street, close to Guide Bridge train station.
HOW senior planner Isla Longmuir said: “The proposals reflected the needs of the local community and the scheme will have a positive effect on Audenshaw and the wider area. It will contribute significantly to the Tameside housing supply and will enhance what is already predominantly a residential area.
“Previous occupier Mono Pumps moved to new premises some time ago, leaving the site potential for re-development. Approval of the plans enable Taylor Wimpey to make a start with its transformation as soon as possible.”
Plans include a variety of new two, three and four-bedroom houses, as well as 18 apartments.
