£16m hotel renovation starts
WORK has started on a £16m project to renovate a historic hotel in the Lake District.
The scheme will see Preston-based Conlon Construction carryout the transformation of Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa and is funded by owner English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues.
Designed by Mason Gillibrand Architects, Conlon’s programme of works comprises a full upgrade and refurbishment of all existing rooms, new outdoor leisure facilities, along with a new atrium and a world class spa, complete with an outdoor heated infinity pool, sauna, steam room and Canadian hot tubs with views over the lake and mountains.
A further new building will open later in the year with 32 additional suites and studio rooms including its own club lounge and roof garden.
The hotel, which enjoys a waterfront setting looking out onto Lake Windermere, closed for its revamp on January 3 and will reopen in April 2017, once the first phase of the renovation is complete.
