Bardsley off to a flyer with £8m of projects
Bardsley Construction has started 2017 with the commencement of two new contracts worth a combined total of £8m to deliver an affordable housing scheme in Runcorn, Cheshire and a residential, retail and community centre project in Rochdale.
The £50m turnover family-owned firm based in Tameside, Greater Manchester is building on its successes in 2016 and long-established expertise in the provision of homes and apartments.
The company is behind a £3.3m scheme for Halton Housing Trust to design and construct 28 affordable homes and apartments on the site of the former Victoria House healthcare building in Runcorn, pictured.
Having recently started on site and with completion due in December, 2017, Bardsley is undertaking partial demolition of existing buildings prior to the construction of six, two-storey semi-detached homes and 22 apartments comprising 11 new apartments and another 11 within a refurbished Victoria House.
Alongside Bardsley on the project team are John McCall Architects, structural engineers Alan Johnson Partnership and cost managers Aecom.

The project will provide a sustainable future for this landmark building and provide local people with high quality new affordable homes.”
Meanwhile, Bardsley is spearheading a £4.7m design and construction project for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing to replace residential and retail properties at The Strand, with three-storey residential and retail buildings and community facility alongside external works and public realm open space.
Phase one of the project involves the demolition of retail and residential properties and the construction of the residential and retail blocks and community hub with phase two centred on the demolition of a further residential property and the provision of car parking and landscaping.
Having started on site in January 2017, Bardsley is due to complete the development in April, 2018.
The project team at The Strand is Triangle Architects, structural engineers Carley Daines & Partners, cost and project managers SDA and mechanical and electrical specialist S I Sealy.

The contracts follow Bardsley being appointed by developer Mulbury City to deliver its £27.6m scheme of 135 private rented sector (PRS) apartments at Port Street in the Northern Quarter, Manchester.
